The Organizing Committee has prepared diverse tours to interesting spots in Seoul and vicinity. Programs may be cancelled or changed in case the number of applicants does not meet the minimum basis. Changdeokgung Palace is the second royal palace built after Gyeongbukgung Palace and it was designated as a World Cultural Heritage since it is the best preserved one among the five remaining royal palaces. The Secret Garden was used as a place for the kings to take a rest. There are gigantic tree that is over 300 years old, a small pond, and a pavilion, and it makes you feel like you are not in the center of Seoul. The DMZ is the most heavily fortified border on the planet. It has been 50 years since the Korean War ended in 1953, but the DMZ remains, dividing the Korean Peninsula. The 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, about 73 meters underground, and 2 meters wide and high, was conducted by North Korean to infiltrate the South. At Dora Observatory, you can peek into North Koreans’ daily lives through a telescope. Panmunjeom is located in the demilitarized zone, 50 km north from Seoul and 10 km east from the city of Gaeseong, the capital city of North Korea. This area is most notably known for the peace talks that were held here in 1951 and was designated as the Joint Security Area on 1953 when the armistice agreement was signed. Once used as a management office, Panmunjeom has been used as now a conference room since the Red Cross held an international conference here in 1971. It is the only place where North Koreans and South Koreans can come in contact on a daily basis and make efforts towards the peace of Korea.

Gyeongju was the capital of the Shilla Kingdom for a thousand years, and the valley where it is located has a great concentration of historical buildings, temples, tombs, and artifacts. After Shilla unified the peninsula in A. D. 676, the city became one of the world’s great cultural centers. The area is called a “museum without walls” because of the wealth of historical heritage. Bulguksa Temple is the representative relic of Gyeongju and was designated as a World Cultural Asset by UNESCO in 1995. Gongju and Buyeo’s glory days marked the cultural height of the Baekje kingdom, one of three ancient Korean kingdoms that vied with one another for domination of the Korean Peninsula during the Three Kingdoms Period (57 BC—668 AD). Tomb of King Muryeongwang was found occasionally in the middle of drainage construction work in 1971, and The tomb is brick tomb for which the whole burial chamber was laid with bricks. Baekmagang River and Nakhwaam is where the women of Baekje threw themselves in so that they wouldn’t be captured by enemy forces at the time of the collapse of Baekje. Gungnapji Pond is arguably Buyeo’s most relaxing spot and the oldest man made pond in Korea.
